HAINES, ALASKA –General Dentist
Haines (pop.1811) located in Southeast Alaska near Juneau, Skagway and 40 miles from the US/Canadian border. It is accessible by road, air, and water.
Surrounded by spectacular snow-capped mountains and hanging glaciers Haines is in one of the most scenic settings in Alaska. Recreational options are in your backyard and you can hike in the Takshanuk Mountains (Mount Ripinski and other peaks), take rafting journeys on the Chilkat River, kayaking adventures and fishing on Chilkoot Lake, exhilarating jet boat rides, heli-ski, photograph the Davidson Glacier, and explore the Lutak Inlet which is frequented by numerous sea lions, seals, and orcas . Haines also has the largest concentration of bald eagles in the world.
The Dental Clinic is in a modern and well equipped facility with (3) operatories, a small laboratory, sterilization area and offices. The Clinic staff includes (1) general dentist, (1) hygienist, (2) dental assistants and front desk staff. The day-to-day practice includes between 8-12 general dentistry with some pediatric patients. Specialists including a prosthodontist and a pediatric dentist travel to Haines through the year from Juneau where the SEARHC Dental Clinic has an AEGD residency training program. As the lead dentist in Haines, the qualifications we seek include AEGD residency training and several years of general dentistry experience.
The SEARHC Dental Clinic is highly valued in Haines and serves both Native and non-Native residents. The Clinic is supported and valued by the community where patients keep their appointments and appreciate the care they receive. SEARHC, the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, is one of the oldest and largest Native-run health organizations in the nation. It is a non-profit tribal health consortium of 18 Native communities which provides health care to the Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, and other Native people of Southeast Alaska. In addition to skill and talent, the candidate we seek is interested in providing care to Alaska natives and is sensitive to their cultural needs and lifestyles.
The Clinic is a HRSA site and qualifies for loan repayment through the SHARP and NHSC programs up to $35,000/yr; Additionally, the salary range is between $160-$180 depending on experience; during the first year, for every two-weeks worked, you receive 11.5 hrs of paid time off or more than (7) weeks plus (10) days CME; Paid malpractice, medical, dental, disability and life insurance; and a relocation allowance.
