Job Description

Purpose: The Financial Coordinators (FC) primary responsibility is to help patients with the financial side of the treatment that was presented to them by the clinical providers. To provide this type of assistance to patients, the Financial Coordinator must have basic knowledge of dental insurance benefits, the ability to guide the patient through their options with skillful use of the Financial Stair-Steps, clear understanding of the 3rd party options available in their practice and the administrative processes that are required with each option and good communication skills that reflect their genuine interest and desire to help patients get the treatment they need. The Financial Coordinator is responsible not only for the presentation of the FA form to the patient, but also documenting the FA accurately, following up on treatment not scheduled or fully financially arranged and reconciling their presentations daily with the proper reports available on Dental Bytes.

Essential Functions:

* Presenting financials using the Financial Stair-Steps
* Knowledge and compliance with correct documentation of the FA form
* Full understanding of the Treatment Acceptance Scorecard, Same Week Activity Report, monitors and where to find key practice metrics in the Reporting Portal.
* Able to ensure that a correct Power Pass takes place and all 4 of the steps of the power pass are completed before presenting a financial.
* Responsible for keeping an accurate Tickler file of the financial arrangements that were not fully financially arranged and/or scheduled and following up with those patients to get them back in the office.
* Responsible for reporting the results of the previous days financial presentations and applicable metrics off of the reconciled Treatment Acceptance Same Week Activity Report.
* Able to enter and edit treatment plans in PV2020
* Able to correctly schedule an entire series of appointments using the yellow treatment plan form in the patients chart.
* Able to navigate through PV2020 to review insurance to ensure that the insurance has been properly researched and hooked up in the system.
* Review charts for the upcoming days to verify that all patients scheduled have a firm financial arrangement in place.
* Able to assist as a PRC as needed.
* Accept all forms of payments and be able to complete all administrative processes associated with each, i.e. Care Credit, credit cards, cash, checks, Flex Spending Accounts, HAS accounts, etc.
* Lead by example; exercise good team work; have mutual respect for team; partner with team to create an exceptional experience for patient.
* Contact insurance companies to verify coverage and fee schedule and complete insurance breakdown accurately and completely if patient appointment is scheduled within 24 hours of appointment time

Non-Essential Functions:

* Attend training and continuing education classes
* Make recommendations to improve processes when needed
* Ensure that reception and front desk areas are clean and organized

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Education/Certification:

* High school diploma or equivalent required
* One to two years of experience working in a professional environment with direct customer contact desired.

Work environment/Conditions:

* Overtime required to perform job functions as approved by Office Leader
* Travel as needed for training and to perform job functions
* Safety procedures required including protection to minimize the risks from X-rays and blood borne pathogens
* Potential extended period long hours standing on feet
