Minimum Education Requirement:
hold a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from an ADA-accredited school or be in the process of obtaining one

Career Description
Providing dental care to more than 300,000 Airmen around the world, in addition to their families, falls to a select group of dental professionals. As a Prosthodontist in the Air Force, you\'ll be a member of this group working to provide the best care possible for every patient you see. And since you won\'t have to worry about dealing with insurance companies or running a practice, you\'ll be able to do just that.
Career Tasks
• Restore debilitated dentitions caused by tooth loss or pathologic wear
• Diagnose and develop treatment plans of patients with complex, multidisciplinary needs, followed by restoring function, aesthetics and stability using fixed, removable and implant-supported prostheses
• Use the latest technology with the most up-to-date computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture, all-ceramic equipment
• Direct the specialty\'s services for a clinic as well as provide professional guidance to in-house dental laboratories
• Provide consultation services to the general dentistry staff
• Perform mentor responsibilities through assignment at one of the Air Force\'s training programs (AEGD-1, AEGD-2 or prosthodontics residency) accredited by the American Dental Association/Commission on Dental Accreditation
Becoming a Direct Commission Officer
To ease your transition into the Air Force, you\'ll enter a five-week training regimen designed to educate you on the ways of both the military and military healthcare. You\'ll participate in physical conditioning five days a week, leadership training and classroom studies.
