Job Description
Facility Details:
- Practice Type: Certified Rural Health Clinic (not FQHC)
- Clinic Size: 6 operatories
- Location: Kentucky, approximately 1 hour from Nashville, TN
- Specialties/Services Offered: General dentistry with a focus on restorative, surgical procedures (crowns, fillings, extractions, partials)
- Pediatric Care: 15% of patient base is under 12 years old
- Clinical Equipment: All digital equipment, including EClinicalWorks EMR and DexIS imaging system
- Average Patient Volume: 20–22 patients per day
- Hours of Operation: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM (Fridays off every other week)
- 80% medicaid - can pay more if higher volume to make up for no shows
- Support Staff: 1 part-time hygienist, 1 part-time dentist (currently out for cancer treatment), 1 dental assistant (ideally 2 assistants will be added), office manager
- Loan Repayment Program: $50,000 per year, renewable
- Call Schedule: No call required. Emergency calls are handled by the office manager, with telephonic consultation available on rare occasions if needed.
Team & Clinical Environment:
- Current Team:
- 1 part-time dentist (out due to treatment)
- 1 part-time hygienist
- 1 dental assistant (will grow to 2 expanded duty dental assistants)
- Clinical Coverage:
- Supervision of dental hygienists and assistants required
- Provider will report to the Executive Director (Anita)
- Collaborative, supportive work environment
- Clinic Atmosphere:
- Practice established in 2018 with all new equipment
- Strong community involvement, with an emphasis on long-term patient relationships

Responsibilities:
- Primary Care:
- Provide general dental services, including restorative, surgical, and preventive procedures
- Perform crowns, fillings, extractions, partials, and possible wisdom teeth extractions
- Ability to perform 3rd molar endodontics if comfortable
- Pediatric Care:
- Occasional care for pediatric patients (age 2+), approximately 15% of the patient base
- Supervision:
- Oversee dental assistants and hygienists, ensuring proper protocols are followed
- Emergency Coverage:
- Call handled by office manager; telephonic consultation for emergency cases (rare)
Compensation Package:
- Base Salary: $190,000 per year
- Annual Loan Repayment: $50,000 (renewable)
- CME Allowance: $1,500 per year
- Paid Time Off: 3 weeks vacation, 7 paid holidays
- Retirement: 403(b) plan with matching after 1 year
- Medical Stipend: Provided (no direct medical insurance, but a stipend available)
- Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000 (based on receipts)
- Malpractice Insurance: Coverage provided, including tail insurance for the duration of employment
- Sign-On Bonus: Negotiable based on experience and agreement
Qualifications and Skills:
- Licensure:
- Must be licensed to practice dentistry in Kentucky or eligible to obtain licensure
- Experience:
- General dentistry experience, with a willingness to treat both adults and children
- Comfortable performing a variety of dental procedures, including restorative and surgical treatments
