Job Description

Overview

Our Utility Worker works as a team member in the hospital’s main kitchen and works under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor to oversee the proper cleaning, of the kitchen, all pots and pans, and assists in the cleaning of equipment, food trays and cups. Takes out the trash each shift and cleans back dock, puts up all stock deliveries and delivers food to offsite catering contracts. Reports pertinent information to the Kitchen Supervisor for follow up.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

  • Prior institutional or residential food service training is helpful but not mandatory
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing

Licenses/Certifications:

  • None required

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all pots, pans, food trays, cups, plates and hot boxes are clean
  • Takes out trash and has ability to properly use compactor
  • Stocking and rotating supplies: Ensures storeroom and cooler are stocked in a timely manner. Items needed to meet the daily menu requirements are available in the kitchen
  • Cleans all storage areas, coolers and freezers
  • Maintains a safe working environment
