Dental Hygienist

The Company: Our client is a not-for-profit health care organization that provides affordable, primary health care services to the residents of Pinellas County, Florida. They currently operate 12 health centers, and a Mobile Health Center through Pinellas County.

The Position: Dental Hygienists promote a healthier dental lifestyle by educating patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral health under a dentist’s supervision. They complete dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening and radiography studies. The Client is offering the following salary and benefits:

  • $29.00 - $40.00 per hour depending on experience

Requirements:

  • Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm)
  • Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
  • Sterilize dental instruments properly
  • Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
  • Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
  • Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
  • Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
  • Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
  • Take X-rays or dental impressions
  • Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
  • Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
  • Monitor supplies

Responsibilities:

  • Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm)
  • Promptly and clearly communicating with staff, consumers, families, and external resources to ensure collaboration and continuity of treatment
  • Actively participating as a part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team
  • Carrying out assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for a variety of clients
  • Representing self, services, and company in a knowledgeable and professional manner
  • Monitoring and coordinating follow up and aftercare as indicated
