Clinical Director, Dental Program

Location: Austin, TX (5-county Central Texas area)

St. David’s Foundation advances health equity in Central Texas through investment and action. The Foundation operates the nation’s largest mobile charity dental program, delivering free, high-quality care to children in Title I schools across five counties.

Position Summary

The Clinical Director provides strategic and hands-on leadership for one of the largest mobile dental programs in the country. This role ensures consistent, high-quality, patient-centered care while mentoring providers, strengthening clinical operations, and advancing the Foundation’s mission to improve access and outcomes for underserved children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor dentists, hygienists, and clinical staff across multiple mobile sites

  • Establish and maintain clinical standards, protocols, and quality assurance systems

  • Provide direct patient care (~25–30% of time), modeling excellence in pediatric dentistry

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, licensure, safety, and infection control standards

  • Partner with operations and leadership to improve efficiency, systems, and care delivery

  • Oversee clinical outcomes, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Serve as a clinical ambassador and advocate for oral health equity in the community

Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD from an accredited institution

  • Active Texas dental license (or eligibility)

  • Minimum 15 years of dental leadership experience, preferably in pediatric, nonprofit, public health, or mobile care settings

  • Strong clinical, mentoring, and operational leadership skills

  • Commitment to health equity, trauma-informed care, and community service

Preferred

  • Experience in mobile dentistry or multi-site operations

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Business, or Healthcare Administration
