Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Dentist for a locum tenens assignment in Alabama starting Sep 15, 2025, for 60 days. This full-time opportunity features day shifts, Monday through Friday, and involves collaboration with hygienists to deliver comprehensive dental care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Complete comprehensive oral exams and oral cancer screenings
  • Take and interpret digital X-rays
  • Provide preventive care, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants
  • Perform restorative work such as fillings, crowns, bridges, and bonding
  • Handle root canals and simple to surgical extractions
  • Deliver periodontal therapy including scaling and root planing
  • Fit and adjust dentures, partials, and night guards
  • Manage implant restoration if trained
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and treatment plans
  • Screen and refer oral pathology cases as needed


Additional Information

  • Preferably 1–2 years of general dentistry experience; FQHC or community health experience preferred
  • Proficiency in preventive, restorative, periodontal, and extraction procedures
  • Experience working with underserved and diverse patient populations
  • Knowledge of EMR systems; Athenahealth used
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to high-volume, fast-paced settings
