Job Description

We are seeking a Dentist for a 96-day locum tenens assignment in New Mexico, starting Feb 2, 2026. This opportunity features a four-day workweek with 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, and offers the chance to provide comprehensive dental care in a collaborative, small-clinic environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in general dentistry procedures, with additional consideration given to those with rural, community health, or pediatric backgrounds.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive dental care including exams, diagnostics, and treatment planning
  • Perform restorative treatments such as fillings, crowns, and bridges
  • Fabricate, fit, and adjust full and partial dentures
  • Conduct non-surgical tooth extractions ranging from simple to moderately complex
  • Provide full-scope endodontics (root canals)
  • Diagnose and manage dental emergencies and infections
  • Administer preventive services such as cleanings, sealants, fluoride, and oral hygiene instruction
  • Treat pediatric patients with exams, restoratives, extractions, and preventive care
  • Refer surgical extractions and specialty cases outside scope as needed
  • Collaborate with clinic staff and coordinate with other health services within the network
  • Maintain accurate dental records and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Optionally assist with mobile unit visits to local schools or school-based clinics


Additional Information

  • Must be licensed to practice dentistry in New Mexico
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certifications required
  • Prior experience in crowns, bridges, dentures, root canals, and extractions is required
  • Adaptability and strong collaboration skills are essential for success in a small-clinic setting
  • Experience in rural or community health and pediatric dentistry is a plus
