General Dentist for FQHC in Coatesville, PA
Position Summary
The General Dentist provides comprehensive dental care to adult and pediatric patients in a community health center setting. This position requires a minimum of two years of clinical experience and the ability to practice independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, mission-driven, and comfortable managing a full patient schedule while supporting the goals of a safety-net dental program.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning
- Deliver a full scope of general dentistry services, including:
- Preventive care (exams, fluoride, sealants)
- Restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns)
- Simple and surgical extractions
- Endodontic and limited prosthodontic procedures, as appropriate
- Manage dental emergencies and urgent care visits independently
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based care in accordance with FQHC and regulatory standards
Independent Practice Expectations
- Manage patient care and clinical decision-making with minimal supervision
- Maintain productivity and quality standards in a fast-paced community health setting
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to dental assistants and hygienists as appropriate
Patient Education & Engagement
- Educate patients on oral health, treatment options, and preventive care
- Deliver care in a compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive manner
- Foster patient trust and long-term engagement in oral healthcare
Documentation, Compliance & Quality
- Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic dental record (EDR)
- Comply with HRSA, OSHA, CDC, and Connecticut Dental Practice Act requirements
- Follow infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, chart reviews, and peer review activities
Required Qualifications
- DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in general dentistry
- Current or eligible Connecticut dental license
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- CPR/BLS certification
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a clinical setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or public health setting
- Experience treating Medicaid and uninsured populations
- Familiarity with electronic dental records
- Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred)
