Job Description

We are seeking a Dentist for an engaging 96-day locum tenens assignment in New Mexico, starting Sep 14, 2026. This role involves delivering comprehensive dental care, including restorative treatments, extractions, and pediatric services, with shifts running from 7a to 6p. Our client provides an opportunity to support a diverse patient population within a collaborative clinic setting.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive dental care: exams, diagnostics, treatment planning
  • Perform restorative treatments: fillings, crowns, bridges
  • Fabricate, fit, and adjust full and partial dentures
  • Conduct non-surgical (simple to moderately complex) tooth extractions
  • Carry out full-scope endodontics (root canals) as needed
  • Diagnose and manage dental emergencies and infections
  • Provide preventive services: cleanings, sealants, fluoride, oral hygiene instruction
  • Treat pediatric patients: exams, restoratives, extractions, preventive care
  • Refer surgical extractions and specialty cases outside scope
  • Collaborate with clinic staff, coordinate with other health services in the LCDN network
  • Maintain accurate dental records and participate in quality improvement
  • Optionally: assist with mobile unit visits to local schools or school-based health clinics


Additional Information

  • EMR: eClinicalWorks
  • Primarily treat a full scope of general dentistry cases, including crowns, fillings, bridges, dentures, partials, and extractions
  • Opportunity to serve a large Medicaid and underserved community
  • Experience with root canals and pediatric patients is needed
  • Referring out complex cases is an option, though potentially difficult due to location
