General Dentist – Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and mission-driven General Dentist to join a community-focused Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to expanding access to high-quality oral healthcare for underserved populations.

The Dentist will provide comprehensive, patient-centered dental care while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This position is ideal for a provider who values clinical autonomy, preventive care, and the opportunity to make a meaningful, long-term impact within the community.

In addition to direct patient care, the Dentist will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, patient education, community outreach, and the overall effectiveness of the dental program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic, preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care to patients of varying ages and backgrounds.
  • Assess and diagnose diseases and conditions affecting the teeth, gums, and oral cavity and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Perform a broad range of general dentistry procedures, including restorative dentistry, extractions, preventive treatments, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Educate patients regarding oral hygiene, disease prevention, nutrition, and the connection between oral health and overall health.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete electronic health records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Follow established infection control, safety, clinical, and HRSA/FQHC guidelines.
  • Collaborate with medical, behavioral health, and other healthcare professionals to support integrated, whole-person care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes, access to care, and clinical efficiency.
  • Support community outreach and health promotion initiatives aimed at expanding access to oral healthcare.
  • Contribute to effective clinic operations, workflow management, and resource utilization.
  • Provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and support to dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other members of the oral health team.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.
  • Active, unrestricted Tennessee dental license, or ability to obtain appropriate Tennessee licensure.
  • Ability to successfully complete required credentialing and privileging.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality care to underserved and vulnerable patient populations.
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based dentistry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive within a team-oriented, mission-driven healthcare environment.
