The client's technology platform facilitates connectivity and workflow automation for accessing and sharing clinical and financial diagnostic data, linking healthcare stakeholders in the delivery and reimbursement of care.

Position: Medical Coll92ections Specialist
Location: San Diego, CA
Shift: Full Time

Job Details:

  • Provides billing support to patients via phone.
  • Answers patient questions and communicates potential errors to the organization.
  • Collect payment from patients for medical procedures.
  • Review claims for errors and correct demographic information, insurance information, explains insurance adjudication and EOB’s, as necessary.
  • Determines collections due from private pay and follows up to receive payments. Prepares and reviews accounts for collection amount due.
  • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information in order to comply with HIPAA and Practice requirements.
  • Communicates with patients to answer medical billing questions and to resolve errors
  • Coordinates the final disposition of patient accounts and the collection efforts
  • This is a call center environment with call standards of a minimum average of 50-60 calls a day

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED: required
  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year directly related in medical billing, medical claims./billing environment involving negotiation, problem resolutions and/or order entry: required
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous billing collector experience: preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans, medical terminology, and medical office software: preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word): required
  • Knowledge of ABN, Appeals, EOBs, CPT AND ICD-10 coding: required
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize work, be flexible and detail oriented, and a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a high level of patient confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate issues easily and effectively at all levels of organization
  • Basic understanding of medical industry and healthcare laboratory billing
  • Must be well organized and possess a strong attention to detail
  • Experience with medical billing software preferred
  • Understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Experience with payor relations
