Job Description
Billing & Insurance Coordinator | Oral Surgery Practice
$27/Hour | Monday–Thursday | Coeur d’Alene / Ponderay, Idaho
An established and growing oral surgery practice is seeking an experienced Billing & Insurance Coordinator to join its team.
The practice is looking for someone who understands dental and medical insurance, knows how to maximize legitimate reimbursement, stays ahead of insurance changes, and isn't afraid to pick up the phone and advocate for the practice and its patients.
Compensation & Schedule
- $27/hour
- Monday–Thursday, 7:30 AM–3:00 PM
- Some scheduling flexibility
- $500/month healthcare reimbursement – individual
- $600/month healthcare reimbursement – family
- Reimbursement can be used toward medical, dental, and vision
- 401(k) with 3% employer match
The Position
The practice operates two offices in Coeur d’Alene and Ponderay, Idaho. The Billing & Insurance Coordinator will be assigned to one location rather than traveling between offices. This is an in-office, on-site position.
The position offers a mix of active billing days and quieter administrative days when the surgeon is working from the other location, providing dedicated time to stay ahead of claims, insurance follow-up, documentation, and reimbursement issues.
The practice uses OMS Vision and works with a clearinghouse. Procedures are already pre-coded, so the position does not require primary procedure coding.
What They Are Looking For
The ideal candidate has previous dental, oral surgery, or medical billing and insurance experience and understands that effective billing requires more than simply submitting claims.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing insurance claims and reimbursement
- Following up on unpaid, delayed, or incorrectly processed claims
- Advocating for appropriate reimbursement and challenging improper write-offs
- Monitoring insurance and billing changes that could affect the practice
- Recognizing reimbursement trends and helping evaluate insurance participation
- Communicating directly with insurance companies and clearinghouses
- Maintaining detailed, accurate documentation
- Resolving insurance and billing questions with patients
- Professionally handling difficult or frustrated patient conversations
- Helping protect the financial integrity of the practice
Qualifications
- Previous billing and insurance experience required
- Dental, oral surgery, or medical billing experience strongly preferred
- Relevant billing/coding certification preferred
- Working knowledge of insurance regulations and billing requirements
- Experience working with insurance clearinghouses
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Comfortable communicating and negotiating with insurance representatives
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Stable employment history preferred
- Ability to independently manage billing responsibilities for a busy specialty practice
The practice is continuing to grow and anticipates adding another surgeon, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced billing professional who wants to become an important long-term member of the team.
Experienced candidates who understand insurance, reimbursement, and the business side of specialty healthcare are encouraged to apply.
